When you are attempting to earn a livelihood from the woodworking business with workers that are on the clock, then you have to cut inefficiency to a minimum. This doesn’t mean becoming a tyrant but, rather, removing all impediments that could be interfering with the building, finishing and sanding.
Started my woodworking career with a quarter-sheet electric sander, quickly graduated to an orbital electric disk sander and eventually realized I could significantly cut sanding time with an air palm sander.

It took me less than an hour to understand my mistake: The very small compressor I bought couldn’t start to keep up with the air needs of the air compressor. It would run from air pressure almost instantly and the air compressor would slow down to the point of being inoperative. I’d then have to wait for many minutes for the pressure to build up again to find another minute of sanding.
Adding to the difficulty was the fact that I had three individuals hired as sanders and so I would have to maintain three air sanders running at top speed all day long. I did some arithmetic and found that I’d need a ten horsepower air compressor with a large tank to keep up with the demand.
The various air compressor was so loud it could be heard all around the building and down the block but it functioned these 3 sanders continuously. The fantastic thing is that it paid for itself in manufacturing efficiency very fast.
